Camp Wilmot has continued to shine God’s light on our camp community despite the challenges of COVID-19. Although the youth camp programs did not run this summer, Camp Wilmot was very much open! We met many new friends and future campers through our summer cabin rental program. Families were able to book a cabin and enjoy the beauty and relaxing nature of camp. We had many programs available for our families including a ropes course, archery, scavenger hunts, art bags, and more. Family feedback has been very positive and we are considering continuing with the summer rentals in 2021. We still have rental cabins available throughout August and September, see our website for details.
We were also able to stay connected with our camp family through a Camp on The Road program. This program included “parking lot parties” at churches throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The parties allowed campers to participate in typical camp events while staying within their own socially distant parking space. A core team made up of camp directors and counselors volunteered to deliver food and STEAM projects to families. The team also volunteered at a local farm to help care for the crops.
Looking ahead we have a few exciting projects and events coming up. In August we will begin registration for a Walk to Scotland campaign which will begin September 1st and run through October 3rd. In October we will be introducing a “Rent a Cabin” program to invite our camp community to spend more time enjoying the property.
