Baltimore, Maryland has been selected as the location for Big Tent 2019. The event will be held August 1-3 at the adjacent downtown Radisson and Lord Baltimore Hotels.

Announced by Diane Moffett, Executive Director of Presbyterian Mission Agency, and J. Herbert Nelson, II, Stated Clerk of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), organizers say that by meeting in the city where the 224th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will be held the following year (2020), the educational and missional gathering will continue the tradition established in 2017 of introducing Presbyterians to the host city.

From the Big Tent Coordinating Team:

The theme, Called to a Movement beyond Institution, based on Romans 12:2, will emphasize the hope of the Gospel and its power to challenge institutional conventions. The goal is to come together and live in this moment, immersed in our current cultural context of racial division, gender inequality, and economic disparity to be renewed, refreshed, and reformed, so that we may be sent out to enact change in our communities. Big Tent will provide a place where our Presbyterian polity and identity is the foothold by which we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in action and answer the call to discern the will of God together.

Worship leaders, plenary speakers, and opportunities for engagement within the Baltimore community are still being selected. The hope is that through worship, Bible study, learning opportunities, and active engagement with one another and the community, attendees will encounter the Church participating in God's mission for the transformation of creation and humanity.

Registration costs and further details will be posted on the Big Tent website when they are finalized, so make sure to check it occasionally. See you in Baltimore!
